The last words on
Prinz Pi's 2011 album Rebell Ohne Grund serve as a segue into his follow-up record: "Tschüss Deutscher rap -- hallo musik, ich bin da!" ("Goodbye German rap -- hello music, I'm here!"). Hallo Musik, which carries the subtitle "Neue Akustische Aufnahmen Alter Songs" ("New Acoustic Recordings of Old Songs"), rearranges 13 of
Prinz Pi's songs ("Keine Liebe" is included in two versions), and even though the new recordings neither abandon rap nor are entirely acoustic, the new instrumentation -- bass, drums, guitars, and keyboards -- offers a fresh perspective on some of
Pi's most popular songs (six of which could originally be heard on Rebell Ohne Grund). ~ Christian Genzel
