This exciting set features piano duets from
Neville Dickie and
Louis Mazetier that look back to the 1920s and the collaborations of
Fats Waller and
James P. Johnson.
Dickie and the lesser-known
Mazetier prove to be equal musical partners and they swing hard even on the slower numbers. In addition to the dozen duets, they take three piano solos apiece. Among the many highlights are "Carolina in the Morning," "Everybody Loves My Baby,"
Fats Waller's "I'll Dance at Your Wedding," "All by Myself," "My Honey's Lovin' Arms," and "How Could I Be Blue." This CD is highly recommended for lovers of the stride piano style. ~ Scott Yanow
