Lil Zubin’s been called The Weeknd of emo-rap, a claim that checks out once you’ve heard a few bars of his pained falsetto. But the comparison doesn’t quite capture what makes the Philly-born vocalist so interesting: Zubin sings like a fallen angel over murky productions that draw from grungy alt-rock, underground trap, and experimental R&B.
