Containing his hit cover of his father's "Honky Tonkin'" as well as an intriguing version of
the Beatles' "Norwegian Wood,"
High Notes is a typically entertaining early-'80s record from
Hank Williams, Jr., featuring a handful of excellent redneck country-rockers -- "Whiskey on Ice," "If Heaven Ain't a Lot Like Dixie," "The South's Gonna Rattle Again" -- mixed with a little filler and the odd soul-searching cut like "If You Wanna Get to Heaven." ~ Thom Owens
