As is common on many Makossa albums from Cameroon,
Papillon has gathered together many of the Makossa heavy hitters for this album. The guitar players, bass players, and backup singers are all highly visible recording artists in their own right.
Homme Fort has its strong points and tracks filled with high-energy Makossa, but there is a lack of genuine creativity and he breaks no new ground on most cuts. The Makossa on this album has yet to break out of its formulaic rut.
Papillon is a potential iconoclast and it remains to be seen whether or not he fulfills his calling. The one notable exception is the track Mulongo and its dub. The bass is deep and digs a fine danceable groove. It is not Makossa but a pan-African hybrid that works well on the dancefloor. Overall, this is a good effort, but not earthshaking in its stance and style.
