Released back to back in 1999, House of Irma, Vol. 1 and House of Irma, Vol. 2 highlight some of the best house tracks the New York-based Irma label had released throughout the '90s. These songs are some of the most club-orientated tracks Irma had released in the '90s; for the most part, the label was better known for its downtempo music than for its club tracks. Both volumes feature tracks by Irma mainstays like Jestofunk, Belladonna, and Sarah Jane Morris as well as lesser-known producers, and many of the featured tracks are remixes. The second volume in particular highlights some of Irma's best producers, including some, like At Jazz, that weren't featured on the first House of Irma volume. Plus, this second volume features "Joey Negro's Disco Fusion Mix" of Jestofunk's "Special Love," one of the highlights from the first volume. ~ Jason Birchmeier
