With the working title being "Yaowa,"
Joell Ortiz's catch phrase, it's no surprise that the rapper's 2014 album
House Slippers is a "me, me, me"-themed effort, although as it's final title implies, it is casual. Pleasingly, winningly casual as highlights like "Brothers Keeper" (featuring all of
Ortiz's
Slaughterhouse crew) are given as much time as they need to tell their rich tales. Long, purposeful cuts and fine flow for the overall album make this one one of the rapper's best solo efforts.
