When the Discovery Channel commissioned
Peter Kater to compose and perform the soundtrack for How the West was Lost, he made some great decisions. He recruited
R. Carlos Nakai,
Joanne Shenandoah, the White Oak Singers, and other remarkable musicians to assist him. He created six and a half hours of deeply atmospheric music for the 13-hour documentary. How the West Was Lost, Vol. 2 is the second CD of this reverent music.
Kater is certainly a talented individual and his capability grows with the input of
Nakai and
Shenandoah. Both of these discs are amazing and
Kater still has four hours of music available for release. This is essential for fans of Native American music. ~ Jim Brenholts
