Recorded a few years before he won the 2010 season of America's Got Talent,
I've Got Dreams features singer
Michael Grimm's bluesy and soulful Southern pop/rock. Similar in vein to his self-titled 2007 debut -- of which two songs are included here --
I've Got Dreams showcases
Grimm's gutsy and passionate vocal style. While not as focused as his
Don Was-produced 2011 major-label debut, the album does deliver on
Grimm's earnest, yearning persona and few songs like his take on
Otis Redding's "I've Been Loving You Too Long," and the equally romantic "I Don't Want to Be Alone" are great modern-day blue-eyed soul moments. Elsewhere, we get a few acoustic country-tinged ballads and even the melodic, '90s-infused hard rock anthem "Too Late to Cry." ~ Matt Collar
