Victor Manuelle's sixth CD continues with the formulaic,
Sergio George-influenced sound (all arrangements by the prolific
Ramón Sánchez), wherein the creativity is present, but becomes exhausting and stale; since the repertoire is entirely romantic, it becomes at times redundant and overbearing. In any case, these shortcomings should not deter his following.
Manuelle is a forceful, dynamic singer, as "Si la Ves," "Por Ella," "Pero Dile," and "Como Quisiera Decirte" demonstrate. However, the recording, like much late-'90s salsa, may sound undistinguished and devoid of novelty. For die-hard
Manuelle completists and the most ardent fans of the talented improvising singer. ~ José A. Estévez, Jr.
