The debut album from Norwegian metal outfit Black Comedy positively spills over with ferociously tight machine-gun rhythms, razor-sharp guitar riffage, retro synths, and alternately demonic and soaring vocals. “Prime Specimen,” for example, chugs along on a chest-rattling groove before erupting into a wailing chorus that recalls Queensryche while keeping pace with the grinding sound of contemporary metal.
