This was one of electric bassist
Monk Montgomery's rare opportunities to lead his own date. Reissued on CD by MoJazz, the problem with this session is that
Montgomery is virtually the only soloist on all ten songs, and the overall music will bore even the most ardent fans of the electric bass. The arrangements are commercial and, although
Montgomery plays well on such tunes as "Bluesette," "My Cherie Amour" and "How High the Moon" among others, the results are largely forgettable. ~ Scott Yanow
