Kintail, in the Northwest Highlands, is the heart of Gaelic Scotland, and thus a symbol of the musical culture to which the bagpipes, though a relative newcomer, are central. MacDonald is one of the finest of the younger pipers, having won pretty much every award going. Here he plays a range of airs, strathspeys, reels, jigs, and such, from traditional pieces to his own compositions.
