In 1976, Robert Charlebois' former label, Gamma, released a second two-LP set of material from the singer's five albums from 1967-1971: Robert Charlebois, Robert Charlebois Louise Forestier, Québec Love, Un Gars Ben Ordinaire, and Robert Charlebois [aka Le Mont Athos]. There is not a repeated track between the two sets and together they comprise all but seven of the songs released during that period. Most of Charlebois' radio hits were included in the first collection (released in 1972). So paradoxically this one lacks some of his best-known songs, but it includes the most interesting material from his psychedelic period: album-oriented pieces like "La Marche du Président," "Engagement," and "La Fin du Monde," including a healthy chunk from the 1968 Robert Charlebois Louise Forestier. Still, this is a hodgepodge quickly and carelessly put together. The track sequencing is aleatory, the pressing cheap, the graphics sloppy, and information limited to song titles. ~ François Couture
