Sadly bereft of any accurate recording data, but certainly taped following the band's 1987 reunion,
Live and Loud is a shattering experience, 13 key
Cock Sparrer songs (plus eleven more by
the Business) that rampage through the band's now-decade old career with both wit and fire. "We Love You," their debut single, and a cover of
the Clash's "White Riot" might stand as the most obvious points of entry for the neophyte, but it's the band's own originals that stand out the most, with the once-controversial "England Belongs to Me" closing the show in breathtaking style. The sound quality is not as good as it could be, and there's more audience noise than the casual listener might be comfortable with. But crank it up as loud as you can and, for as long as its lasts, you could actually be in the same room as the band. And that's an experience everybody should have. ~ Dave Thompson
