With LIVE FROM ALBERTANE, the three most popular teens on Earth issue a live document bursting with youthful exuberance, and marked by a seamless performance which puts to rest any accusations of teeny-bopperdom. Granted, they travel with a backing band, but this album is all Hanson. With plenty of examples of the "C'mon!" and "Alright!" school of crowd banter (maybe Kiss ALIVE was in their parents' record collection), Hanson keeps the crowd engaged throughout, as evidenced by the album's ever-present hysterical shrieking.
The hits are all here, including the ubiquitous "MMMBop," which is, as expected, accompanied by an Armageddon-like level of audience enthusiasm. The ballad "I Will Come To You" is delivered as an epic, with inspiring dynamics, and the trademark vocal blend that put them on the map. More unexpectedly, the album features a few rootsy covers--opening with a rocking medley of "Gimme Some Lovin'" and "Shake A Tail Feather," the brothers later take on "Money (That's What I Want"), a tune which has been setting teenage hearts aflutter for decades.
