This 2014 budget
Albert King compilation,
Live in the '70s, brings together several concert recordings featuring the highly influential blues guitarist performing in the 1970s. For the most part, the album is split evenly between tracks
King recorded at the Fillmore East in New York City in 1971 and tracks culled from his appearance at the Forum in Hollywood, California in 1972. Also included are two cuts from his 1974 date at the Purple Carriage in St. Charles, Illinois and one from Chicago's Double Door in 1978. While these aren't the most pristine live recordings, and the sound quality varies between each venue, they are nonetheless highly engaging sets that showcase
King's furious, swaggering guitar style. Avowed
King fans will definitely want to seek this out.
