Recorded on the supporting tour for 2008’s Rain, Live Music Europe: 2010 finds the reunited Joe Jackson Band -- everybody except guitarist Gary Sanford, that is -- running through some of Jackson’s more sophisticated material from the early ‘80s. The set list leans heavily on 1982’s Night and Day -- over half of its songs are featured -- and delivers unexpected surprises in a series of covers of the Beatles (“Girl”), Ian Dury (“Inbetweenies”), and David Bowie (“Scary Monsters”). Perhaps this isn’t as vigorous as the Joe Jackson Band in their ‘80s prime, but they’re still plenty energetic, never failing to entertain on a set of songs that still resonate some 30 years later.
