One of many projects affiliated with Johnny Jewel's Italians Do It Better label, this mysterious entity makes suspenseful cinematic lullabies with a retro flair yet futuristic sound design. Their first EP opens with "It's Not Enough," an instantly captivating number that unfortunately only lasts for two and a half minutes, making it feel like the theme for a movie rather than a proper song. The group has a bit more to say after that, and following the yearning drifter "Lock & Key" is the stunning "Blood on the Tracks," a spoken confession over shimmering, starry synth pads and soft but insistent drum-machine pulsations. A hazy, flickering cover of Ricky Nelson's "Lonesome Town" drives home the group's aesthetic, updating the chic sadness of a bygone era. Even with an instrumental tacked onto the end, the EP seems too short, but it leaves more than enough of an impression to pique interest for a full-length.
