A compilation of material which soul singer
Tyrone Ashley recorded under the direction of Northern soul aficionado
Ian Levine in the mid-'70s,
Looks Like Love Is Here to Stay doesn't offer anything substantially different musically than
Levine's other productions of the time for
Evelyn Thomas,
L.J. Johnson, and
Doris Jones. Rather,
Ashley's voice is the distinguishing factor. He employs similar delivery techniques (probably by order of
Levine); but his actual tone and innate phrasing is more down-home soulful than the others'. The highlights here are the chugging "Feet Start Moving" and the charming disco title track. Otherwise, the tunes are pleasant, but rather trajectory -- and certainly not up to the standards of
Ashley's abilities.
