The jazz content on this CD from singer
Diane Schuur is rather slight, but this is actually one of her finest recordings.
Schuur (who has a lovely voice) sings straightforward versions of ten veteran ballads while accompanied by one of two string orchestras.
Tom Scott on reeds and trumpeter
Jack Sheldon have short spots, but this is very much
Schuur's show. She really excels in the restrained setting, making this a superior middle-of-the-road pop recording. ~ Scott Yanow
