Primo Records presents a series of 40 polished, stylized performances by
Frank Sinatra with accompaniments by
Nelson Riddle and his orchestra, collected from four Capitol albums recorded between 1953 and 1956.
Songs for Young Lovers and
Swing Easy were both issued as 10" LPs, with eight songs apiece.
Sinatra's first 12" album,
In the Wee Small Hours, came out in 1955 and
Songs for Swingin' Lovers! followed in 1956; these are still widely regarded as
Sinatra's best recordings.
Riddle's arrangements were tailored to complement and support this singer's voice and personality. Moods and textures include the whimsically romantic reverie, the golden infusion of masculine melancholy and the sanguine, cocky suavity of a man who knows he's riding the crest of a wave.
