Classic jazz seems to thrive in Europe, at least one would get that impression from the many high-quality Stomp Off CDs that have documented this important if underground music.
Bruno's Salon Band is a strong German septet that explores such forgotten songs as "Birmingham Black Bottom," "Sentimental Gentleman from Georgia" and "Ding Dong Blues" along with two originals by their cornetist Chris Herrmann. The hot jazz is quite enjoyable, contains plenty of spirit and pays tribute to the past without being a strict copy. It's worth searching for.
