COMPILATION

Mambo For Cats is an example of great hype. Bill Zeitung's liner notes are over the top, in mad beatnik/jazz-DJ style, and the jacket art by Flora is superb. Monaural Latinate versions of old standards are not exactly the "livin' end," however. Collectors will want it for the odd rare track by a particular artist, but nothing is outstanding except the packaging. Four of the artists, Prado, Martinez, Romero, and Morales, also appear on Mambos (RCA Victor LPM-1067) from the same year. That album conversely hides the good stuff under a mundane "Perfect for Dancing" wrapper.
