It took Berlin-based rapper
Mach One seven years to release a follow-up to his first solo album, 2005's
Das Meisterstück, Vol. 1 -- even though he gave signs of life with three collaboration albums with fellow rappers: Lil Mach Änze Nordzeitboys (2006, with Darn and
Vork),
Freakshow (2007, with
Vork), and Rap aus Berlin (2010, with
King Orgasmus One). Released in 2012,
Meisterstück, Vol. 2: Rock 'n' Roll finally presents the second part of what
Mach One announced as a trilogy. Despite the title, the album does not feature any rock elements -- it's a classic hip-hop album that focuses on
Mach One's lyrics and rhymes. There is only one featured guest (
Taktlo$$ appears on the track "Legendär"); the sparse but effective production was handled by Kev Beats and
Mach One himself.
Meisterstück, Vol. 2 entered the German charts at number 24. ~ Christian Genzel
