Park South's collection of
Carl Perkins recordings,
Memphis, is an interesting one in that either these recordings are made by the legendary guitarist but re-recorded later in his career or they are the work of an imposter. The most likely answer is unfortunately the latter, since the Park South label regrettably has a trend for hiring fakers to record versions of classic songs. In the end, it doesn't matter that much whether or not these recordings might be the actual
Carl Perkins near the end of his career because anyone looking for these songs presumably would want the original versions. Try trusty label Rhino's collection,
Original Sun Greatest Hits, for an excellent overview of the influential guitarist, but stay away from this one.
