New Jersey-based metalcore act
Palisades followed up their 2013 debut
Outcasts in early 2015 with the boisterous
Mind Games. Boasting production from
Erik Ron (known for his work with
Motionless in White and
Crown the Empire), the album kicks off with the relentless sonic cut-up of "Player Haters' Ball," zooming through screamed vocals, electronic breakdowns, and soulfully emo choruses. The band's mesh of electronic styles, post-hardcore styles, and metal influences continues throughout the album on poppier numbers such as "Like a Drug" and the cheekily titled "Come Over and Watch Netflix." ~ Fred Thomas
