Le label Louder Than War croit dur comme fer au pouvoir du rock ‘n’ roll et s’applique à proposer régulièrement des artistes punk, rock et pop de qualité… mission accomplie avec ce premier EP de Monotony. Le groupe constitue en fait une sorte de « double maléfique » des Sauna Youth, puisqu’il est le fruit du travail des mêmes membres ayant simplement échangé leurs instruments respectifs. Profitant de cette nouvelle identité pour se lancer dans de nouvelles contrées musicales, les Monotony accueillent l’auditeur avec un véritable mur de guitares dont les cordes sont sauvagement balayées et avec un chant grinçant noyé dans une impressionnante masse sonore. Le punk est à l’honneur et le groupe se soucie peu de la mode des productions léchées au décibel près, il délivre un son brut, féroce, destiné à être écouté à un volume élevé et il ne lui faut pas plus de six chansons pour s’imposer avec force dans le paysage musical du moment. © LG/Qobuz
