Westside's second volume of
Mullican's King recordings covers the years 1947-1950, featuring more traditional country and Western swing fare. Some of
Mullican's big hits are here, including "Sweeter Than the Flowers" and "I'll Sail My Ship Alone," as well as choice lesser tracks like "I Was Sorta' Wonderin'," the bluesy "Trouble, Trouble," and "A Million Regrets." The emphasis throughout is on
Mullican's easy vocal style, and while these years weren't the most exciting period of his career, there is some fine, relaxed stuff to be found.
