This CD documents live concerts by the inimitable Max Roach in a couple of different settings, with the first, a live date from 1960, being the most memorable. It finds the legendary bop drummer performing with a quintet featuring the Turrentine brothers, Stanley and Tommy, on saxophone and trumpet respectively. Tommy is in his prime on these tracks, playing with great skill and sensitivity. The group excels on the two uptempo tunes heard here, "Kardouba" and "Stop Motion."
