Moving Through Here by John Beltran - DeepRiffs

Something of a shock after his previous albums for Peacefrog (one as himself and one recorded as Placid Angles), John Beltran's 1997 LP for Apollo/R&S alternates the same cool ambient techno found on his Peacefrog output with more hardcore tracks including the presence of odd female vocals. Though several tracks work for the most part -- particularly the breakbeat beauty of "Eden" -- the curious balance between up-to-the-minute productions and a very dated sound makes Moving Through Here a difficult listen. ~ John Bush
