Mr. Action Packed presents an incredible missing chapter in the
Johnny Dollar story. The 20 songs here, all rockabilly classics from 1957-1958, were lost for 40 years until the tapes were discovered in a closet.
Dollar recorded country before and after these sessions and had some chart success in the late '60s, but these tracks really rock, including smoking versions of "Rockin' Bones" and "Action Packed." Two live performances from the Big 'D' Jamboree, "Great Balls of Fire" and "Jailhouse Rock," show that
Dollar was serious about being a rock & roller during this period, and the collection is rounded out with a few alternate mixes, attractive packaging, and excellent notes.
