This dixieland LP is more creative than usual. Cornetist
Doc Evans and his septet/octet (which also includes pianist
Knocky Parker) perform fresh versions of three songs by
Jelly Roll Morton, two by
Clarence Williams, the standard "Fidgety Feet" and
Evans' original "King Bolden on Parade." A special bonus is "Fantasy on Muskrat Ramble" which takes the warhorse through a variety of surprising changes. This LP has been out-of-print for several years but is well worth picking up;
Doc Evans was always an excellent player.
