The members of X-World/5 have probably read some science fiction in their day. Everything about them, from cover art to album title to the epic songs, indicates heavy fans of the genre. The band is composed of a cross-continental team consisting of former Tin Machine guitar scientist Reeves Gabrels, Andy Laroque of King Diamond, and Hammerfall bassist Magnus Rosen, among others, and the sound is a streamlined, darkly futuristic take on classic '80s power metal. Singer Nils K. Rue wails with the best of them, though his voice is often treated with robotic industrial metal effects.
