Jobim, other Brazilian tunes and originals -- or the electronic setting, which often features the synth of
Phil Markowitz and
Vic Juris' guitar -- but because of
Dave Liebman's tone. Normally a brilliant soprano saxophonist,
Liebman sounds distressingly out of tune on most of the selections, a problem that probably could have been fixed quickly. As it is, one can only hear the potential of what this accessible set could have been [A Japanese version of the CD was also released.] ~ Scott Yanow
