Billed as a single but containing two side-long tracks adding up to a full album's worth of material, length-wise, Noments is the debut vinyl release from Leeds-based improvisatory techno duo Chrononautz. As with their previous digital releases, this is just a straight uncut studio session from the duo, catching them in action as they build up and transform their gritty, muscular hardware-based techno beats in real time. There's no clear beginning, middle, or end here; it just flows and builds and progresses and never looks back, throwing in percussive sounds, acid blips, and distortion whenever necessary. There's definitely a nod to the post-industrial side of techno, but it thankfully lacks a pretentious sense of aggression. More than anything, the release is just an exciting slab of crunchy, noisy techno perfect for losing one's mind to in a dark, dirty warehouse.
