Dark Arts we know from their Ruthless EP, and
Marnie we recognize from
the Party Boys (an older Nate Starkman band), but who are
Autumnfair and Soul Brothers? Well, this beautiful sleeve (as always) will attract notice before these four come in with their rhythmic magic, soundtrack sweep, and even finger cymbal touches. The press release sums this up well: "pleasantly disturbing." Try to ignore this uniquely subtle LP and it'll drift around your room and come up through your nostrils ever so silently and invisibly until once again it's invaded your attention. Quiet, spontaneous, otherworldly, and almost futuristic, it's becoming dreadfully obvious that this is one of the few labels in the U.S. worth collecting. Whatever they and their sister Independent Project release is bound to be a shining, unobtrusive beacon in its own way.
