Plus de trois décennies après leurs débuts, les Flaming Lips restent sans doute le groupe de pop psychédélique le plus brillant des années 1990 et 2000. La bande de Wayne Coyne a surtout su se réinventer, disque après disque, et ne jamais stagner dans un genre musical dans lequel la plupart des acteurs a tendance à radoter voire à se caricaturer… Fringants quinquagénaires, les Flaming Lips font de ce quatorzième album studio un nouvel éden lysergique finalement pas très éloigné de The Terror publié en 2013. Après la parenthèse With A Little Help From My Fwends de 2014 sur lequel ils revisitaient le Sgt. Pepper's des Beatles (avec notamment Miley Cyrus !), les voilà revenus à une écriture moins foutraque qu’il n’y parait et à des compositions à tiroirs brillamment agencées. Produit par l’ami de toujours Dave Fridmann, Oczy Mlody alterne entre séquences sombres et inquiétantes et fiesta colorées.
