Chanteuse rock, "Paris C'est Toi" is even sung in perfect French, with unadorned guitar and the odd sample, swirling melodies, and hints of lounge-core. "Leave All Your Old Loves," a previously released single, is expertly crafted pop reminiscent of the prime of Everything But the Girl, and contains a lilting Hawaiian-style guitar refrain. Off With Their Hearts is easy listening for members of a generation who have turned to their parents' Gilberto and Jobim records for their cocktail hour music. One possible exception is "Motorbike Girl," a cover of Jessica Griffen's single, first brought to public attention in 1989 by Feedtime, and performed at clipped tempo in Go-Go's fashion. "Turning Blue," the album's closer, is a tad on the mannered side, with inexplicably forced enunciation on the part of Stephanie Winter but, for the most part, the album purrs and flows like a rippling stream. ~ Travis Drageset
