Dan Plonsey's second of three albums for multiple saxophones offers bizarre music in which the saxophonist overdubs himself, creating anything from the mundane to the silly to some genuinely creative pieces. On some of the tracks,
Plonsey performs solo; on others there are multiple saxophones, sometimes with synthesizer. Occasionally, his voice is added. The whole thing comes off as a strange collage of bits and pieces, some with interesting curves, but others falling flat. His vocals on "The Superhero of Shirts" are (presumably) sung out of tune as a parody, but what is the point?
Plonsey does not have much new to say, and his standard technique does not contribute to the literature. While he occasionally hits the mark, the whole disappoints with its lack of focus. ~ Steve Loewy
