Pachangón en el Inferno is the most explicit and intense collection of narcocorridos to date by the
Grupo Exterminador. Formerly known as Los Hermanos Corona, this group has undergone a complete transformation over the last 20 years to become one of the prime purveyors in Mexico's narco-cultura 2.0 music, even upping the ante they displayed on
Adicto a Ti in 2007 and El Punto Exacto in 2012.
Pachangón en el Inferno commences with a skit -- many of which are strewn throughout the album. Musically, the sound remains rooted in the regional Mexican corridos and banda tunes that have long been their trademark, and traces the narcocorrido and outlaw song itself back through the days of Pancho Villa. Though the lyrics are often violent -- filled with graphic language and tragic imagery -- they are not without dark, poignant humor as well. Musically, this is one of the most sophisticated recordings the band has yet released.
