Hailing from Glasgow, Richard Youngs and Alex Neilson produce an orchestral variety of ambient sounds from guitar, voice, and percussion on their second collaboration, a follow-up to 2003's OURSELVES. Using a variety of arcane techniques, the imaginative Neilson supplies a constantly shifting percussive backdrop to Youngs's intertwining vocal and guitar sound collage. The mood shifts dramatically from broodingly primitive to cheerful folk chants on "Music of the Lost Sun," while on "Mountain" Neilson's bowed cymbals mischievously mirror Youngs's guitar feedback.
