This long out of print LP gives one a good overview of trombonist
Chris Barber's recordings of the mid-'50s. His English trad band had an unexpected hit with their version of
Sidney Bechet's "Petite Fleur," a feature for clarinetist
Monty Sunshine. That recording is included on this LP along with hot versions of a variety of well-known (such as "The Saints" and "Sweet Georgia Brown") and obscure (including "Olga" and "Thriller Rag") tunes from the '20s.
Pat Halcox's trumpet solos and
Ottilie Patterson's vocals are major assets.
