This limited issue release, a collection of previously unreleased live material, proves itself from track to track. Of all the downtown New York bands that emerged from the new wave of the mid-seventies, only Blondie rode that wave up the pop charts again and again. Whether employing the disco chic of "Heart Of Glass" or the single-minded seduction of "One Way Or Another," Blondie fearlessly proclaimed their originality by daring to embrace whatever musical style suited their fancy. They dabbled in reggae; they flashed through disco; and with Debbie Harry occasionally striking a pose as the Marilyn of new wave, they even danced a night or two away in the decadent mansions of glam rock. But as evidenced here, beneath all the costume changes was a good old fashioned American rock & roll/pop band built on the irresistible hook and the urgent throb.
