On
Pleasure Vibrations, it's apparent that this duo is mostly tongue-in-cheek. And with the name
Seksu Roba (which means "Sex Donkey") and a dancing robot named Erector, they'd probably like to have their tongues in many other places. Aside from the innuendos, Lun*na Menoh and Sukho Lee do throw together an eclectic mix of exotica, space-age lounge, and electro, borrowing elements from
Ennio Morricone and Yellow Magic Orchestra. This second record is heavy on the erotica, with the best example being "Erotico," where they sing "everything is erotic, everything is sexual." Several tracks, like the sci-fi embellished "Up Up and Away," show off the theremin and synths, though later on,
Seksu Roba's background-type sound wears out its welcome. The choice to cover
My Bloody Valentine's "Moon Song" is a bit strange. But then again, this is a strange band. You can't take
Seksu Roba too seriously, so perhaps
Pleasure Vibrations is best reserved for goofy sex. ~ Kenyon Hopkin
