Prelude's essential releases could probably be contained within four discs. That said, if your curiosity runs well beyond
Martin Circus' "Disco Circus,"
D Train's "You're the One for Me,"
Musique's "In the Bush," and
Sharon Redd's "Can You Handle It" -- just a few of the label's biggest highlights -- the six-volume
Prelude's Greatest Hits series will be worth investing in. The series wasn't quite running on fumes by the time it reached the final volume.
Secret Weapon's "Must Be the Music" and Elektrik Funk's "On a Journey (I Sing the Funk Electric)" stand with the label's best known singles;
France Joli's "The Heart to Break the Heart," Wuf Ticket's "The Key," and
Jocelyn Brown's "I Wish You Would" also make this volume worth having. ~ Andy Kellman
