If you are a young person who has read all about the Psychedelic Furs emerging from England at the same time as Joy Division, Echo & the Bunnymen, and Teardrop Explodes but have never heard anything by the band but the singles like "Pretty in Pink," "Into You Like a Train," and "Love My Way," you're in for a treat. Sony has put the remastered and expanded versions of the first three Psychedelic Furs albums into one rather jive slipcase and put them back on the shelf for a lower list price. All three albums are classics, and each one is a better "pop" record than the last. The self-titled debut, a gloomier and altogether noisier effort, is here in its full version, containing both the English and American versions -- in other words, all the tracks are included since the American version was chopped. The latter two albums, Talk Talk Talk and Forever Now brought the band to the pop carts in the U.S. Perhaps you're sill holding onto your old vinyl copies, and they are starting to sound a little shoddy. There has never been a better reason to pick up a box than this one. Great sound, bonus tracks, and almost everything you'd ever need by this crossover post-punk, neo-psychedelic outfit.
