Being that
Michael Stuart has only been a professional salsero for ten years, it makes sense that he hasn't been able to have the countless number of best-of compilations that other artists have. Still, he managed to make it into Universal Music Latino's
Pura Salsa series, which isn't too bad of a feat. Songs like "Te Gusta Verme Sufrir," "Niña Bella," and "Gitana" (from
Sin Miedo,
Retratos, and Cuentos de la Vecindad, respectively) are included, as well as "Mi Princesa," "Nadie Sabe," and "Casi Perfecta," all of which show off the singer's clear, mellifluous voice. Serious fans of will not find much of use from
Pura Salsa (besides not having to flip through CDs and tracks to get the songs you want), but casual listeners of either him or the genre should find it a pretty enjoyable album. ~ Marisa Brown
