There's no denying
Tony Williamson's fleet mandolin skills on this disc. He's full of fills and solos, and shines especially brightly on instrumentals like the opening "Ript." There's talent in the four-piece, without doubt, when they let things rip a bit. Unfortunately, they don't do that often enough. The majority of the disc is given over to songs, and the quality of the songwriting isn't that high. A few, like "Proclivity," work well, but when they slow things down, as on the aptly titled "Atrophy" or "Time," it all falls apart -- they can't seem to find the intensity of spirit to keep the momentum going all the way through the song. It's a shame, because they have a lot to offer, but they haven't reached their potential yet. ~ Chris Nickson
