Sunny and cheeky pop duo, Buscabulla (“troublemaker”) blends Puerto Rican traditions with Brooklyn’s modern trends through both their music and style. Partners in real life as well as in the studio, the sincerity of Raquel Berrios’ vocals fit perfectly with Luis Alfredo Del Valle’s clever compositions. After a handful of successful EPs, the duo has now released its first-ever album, Regresa (“Return”), which reflects the two geographical poles in their lives. The fruity tracks are in keeping with the spirit of the times as Latin and Western influences are subtly fused together but they also contain undertones of the couple’s nostalgia. In one song, a gentle Latin groove meets a Chic-like bass line (Nydia), in another, the Caribbean groove is partnered with a carefree melody (NTE). Throughout this album these ethereal songs whispered in Spanish have been embellished with sensual rhythms, organic instrumentation and dreamlike, contemporary electronic effects.
